Midori and Pepper lead the launch list.
Choose Midori for a mobile Long Sword playstyle or Pepper for ranged Heavy Bowgun pressure. Luka and Arkaya are other strong choices when a Bow or Lance suits you better.

Best characters to build or reroll for
Already own them?
Start with the Adventurers you can actually use. Pick a comfortable weapon, identify what your hunts need, and learn one kit before spreading your resources across the roster.
Planning a reroll?
Check the current recruitment pool and account rewards first. A high rating does not tell you whether a target is available, already obtainable another way, or worth restarting for.
The Fated Adventurer is a weapon choice.
The protagonist is outside this named-Adventurer table because different weapon loadouts change the comparison. A separate weapon ranking should not be mixed into a character tier.
How this Monster Hunter Outlanders tier list is evaluated
This table captures a published launch overall evaluation, covering damage and handling alongside useful buffs, disruption and support. It is not an official game ranking, and we have not run controlled in-game damage tests.
A monster's matchup, the role you need and the weapon you can use safely can change your practical choice. Older closed-beta lists may evaluate a different balance state. The review date tells you when this page's evidence was checked.
Adventurer tier list FAQ
Who are the best characters in Monster Hunter Outlanders?
Midori and Pepper lead this launch overall snapshot. Choose between them by the weapon you want to learn: Long Sword or Heavy Bowgun. Before spending, check that your target is available in the recruitment pool you are using.
Is the best Adventurer always the best reroll target?
Recruitment value also depends on what your account already owns and how a character is obtained. Check your actual recruitment and reward screens before resetting an account or spending currency.
Why is the Fated Adventurer outside the character table?
The Fated Adventurer uses different weapon loadouts, so a single character letter would hide an important choice. Compare the weapon you use and your equipment before drawing conclusions from a named Adventurer ranking.
Can I keep using an A- or B-tier Adventurer?
Yes. A lower general rating does not make a character unusable. A familiar weapon, suitable matchup and better execution can matter more to your next hunt than moving one letter up the table.
